The journal post is part of this initiative, to shed some light on  some of the incredible works these charities do.

The blog post was prepared by Moms Aid.

In the heart of the Maldives, amidst the picturesque landscapes and serene beaches, lies a silent struggle that often goes unnoticed. Behind the postcard-perfect scenes, there are women battling poverty and violence every single day. Moms Aid, one of the largest NGOs in the country, stands as a beacon of hope for these women and their families, striving to create a future where every woman can thrive, free from the shackles of poverty and violence.

Our Mission:

At Moms Aid, our mission is clear and resolute: to reach, guide, and motivate women across the Maldives towards a society where domestic abuse will not be tolerated, and women can live free from the threat of violence and poverty. We believe that by empowering women, we can transform families, communities, and ultimately, society as a whole.

The Work We Do:

Our efforts are strategically channeled into three robust campaigns:

  1. Hope For Moms:
Our campaign embodies an unwavering commitment to immediate and sustainable change for the 250 verified vulnerable families under our care. Our key initiatives include:
  1. a) Family Sponsorship Program: Ensuring the essential needs of the most vulnerable families on our care list are met through monthly care packages containing food, hygiene products, and clothing. This aid not only provides immediate relief but also alleviates financial strain, empowering families to regain stability.
  1. b) HiyaVahi Campaign: Offering transformative change by providing secure housing to the most vulnerable families facing homelessness or unsafe living conditions. By offering a safe haven, we provide families with security and reassurance, enabling them to envision a brighter future.
  1. c) Ramadan Aid: Distributing care baskets with essential food items to at least 300 families in need every year. With each care package, we not only provide nourishment but also offer a ray of hope and dignity to those facing hardships.
  1. d) Back to School: Empowering every child in our care to pursue their dreams through education. We equip them with essential school items for a successful academic journey.

  1. Unite:
Through our Unite campaign, we amplify awareness of the challenges faced by women enduring abuse and violence. By shedding light on these issues, we cultivate a culture of support and solidarity, empowering survivors to seek help without fear or shame.

  1. Every Woman: Our every woman campaign is a force for advocacy and transformation, offering awareness and vocational training programs. It empowers women by equipping them with skills and resources to break free from the cycle of poverty and violence, allowing them to build sustainable lives for themselves.

At Moms Aid, we are steadfast in our belief that empowerment is the catalyst for real change. Together, through our unified mission to uplift and champion women, we forge a path towards a future where every woman thrives, leaving no one behind. Join us in our journey towards a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow.
