Island Loop - an Initiative by Island Bazaar
As we celebrate our third year, we are delighted to announce the launch of Island Loop.
Island Loop will take tiny steps and work together with selected causes and organisations (non-profit) within our Island communities and offer our support.
Every quarter we will choose a cause and contribute 2% of Island Bazaar's quarterly profit to the cause. That we have selected, along with a post on our Journal [our blog] during that quarter.
1st QUARTER 2020
Our chosen cause for the first quarter for 2020 is Care Society.
"Care Society is a non-government organization (NGO) founded in November 1998. The main aim under Care Society’s mandate is to address the disability issues in Maldives, raise awareness and to provide an open forum in the community, in which people with disabilities could participate, contribute to and benefit from. In the past 21 years Care Society has been one of the leading NGOs in the Country.
With the main purpose of providing rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities, Care Society started a rehabilitation and education center (CDC) in 2001. The main focus of the center is to provide informal education and vocational training to the students who are enrolled in the center. CDC uses a special education approach that facilitates inclusion and integration of students in main stream schools. CDC provides services to children with all different disabilities starting from age zero.
Care Society believes that it is vital to join hands at all levels to move towards an inclusive environment, where people with disabilities are recognized as equal citizens of the community."
We have had the privilege of working with and seeing first hand how hard the teachers and management of Care Society works and we thank them for this opportunity and wish them all the best.
4th QUARTER 2019
To start the initiative and be our Cause for the final quarter of 2019, we have selected a very special organisation, Tiny Hearts of Maldives.
